Plink. Plank. Plunk.

I first came across the kalimba a few years ago, during a time when work felt overwhelming and stress seemed constant. What looked like a small wooden box with metal keys turned out to be something I needed. The moment I played my first notes—soft, bell-like and soothing—I felt myself slow down.

I've always loved music. As a child I learnt guitar and enjoyed singing, though I never became a musician. The kalimba reminded me that you don't need to be a professional to make music. With just this little instrument, anyone can play their own melody. Simple and calming.

I got hooked. I started collecting kalimbas—trying different woods, different key counts, comparing their sounds. But I quickly realized that not all kalimbas are created equal. Some arrived poorly tuned. Others had tines that went flat within days. The more I played, the more I noticed the difference between a cheap kalimba and one that's actually built to last.

So I became picky. I started seeking out instruments that were properly tuned, made with decent materials, that actually held their pitch. And naturally, I started collecting tabs too—organizing them by which kalimba they'd work on, which songs matched which tuning.

Then I thought: why not share this? There are probably other people out there who love kalimbas as much as I do, who want an instrument that sounds good without having to hunt through dozens of mediocre options.

Terra Frequency is my personal collection—the kalimbas I'd actually want to play, and the tabs I've gathered for them. I don't stock anything I wouldn't use myself. If a kalimba doesn't stay in tune or sounds off, it doesn't make it here. Simple as that.

If you're the kind of person who can hear the difference between a well-tuned kalimba and a cheap one, or who gets excited about finally finding the tab for that one song you've been wanting to play, we're probably on the same wavelength.

Nothing fancy, just good instruments and organized tabs. That's it.
